T’was a Dark & Stormy Night
A very wild and stormy night last night left me a little concerned that some of my good work of yesterday may have been undone. The barn may have been standing for over a hundred years but it is open at both ends and its possible for wind and rain to blow under the eaves. I was pleased to find everything OK though, just a few leaks from the roof and some gutter overflow in some places but all away from the build floor. It was carpeted in leaves though, a legacy of our mild autumn. I spent the afternoon re-laying the floor in the epoxy area because I wasn’t happy with it, making the HQ a bit more homely, added kettle, drinks, pot noodles, biccys etc. Also fitted a bathroom (well OK a toilet tent and portapotti then!). So pretty much habitable now. I need to sort out a bit more lighting for the winter months but I am ready to build! Hopefully the Douglas Fir order should be in this week and I will get the ply and epoxy orders delivered also. Ironically spare time is now getting shorter as Christmas approaches but I will definitely be getting well into gear as 2007 arrives. It seems ages but the project only really came to life in August/September. Its taken 3/4 months and an outlay of nearly £3000 to reach this point and now I’m ready to start. Is it possible I could see in 2010 with a party onboard Gleda? That’s going to be my target.
