Today we have had some of the strongest winds in years, peak gust of 99mph recorded on the South Coast. Most of the UK and Northern Europe has been battered. The death toll in the UK stands at 7 tonight. Trees down, lorries blown over, power cables down, a container ship abandoned off Cornwall. I checked out the barn this afternoon at the height of the gusts and had to negotiate tree debris and branches all through the lanes. The winds were coming from the SW so luckily not blowing through the barn but I was a bit concerned about some of the roof lights as they were lifting in the gusts. Unsurprisingly the power had tripped out again. Anyway I think all is OK but no work tonight.
