Port Hull Bulkheads Fixed
A day off work today enabled me to get all 7 port hull bulkheads epoxied into position. I was careful to make the joints as good as I could, I first sanded all the contact areas, cleaned off and then heated with my hot air gun to drive out any moisture. A key coat of neat epoxy was then brushed on and tacked off, again using the hot air gun. I then mixed up a fairly thick adhesive using Treecell and Silicell, I did this in small batches so I could concentrate on one bulkhead at a time. After marking the exact position of each bulkhead the temporary legs were unscrewed to allow the bulkhead to drop out of it’s slot in the backbone. The process was reversed once adhesive had been applied. Each bulkhead was also screwed to its guide with stainless screws. A final check on alignment was followed by a clean up of excess adhesive before moving on to the next.
