Over Did It
Last night I joked about being tired, this morning it was less of a joke. I woke during the night with a blinding headache and when I eventually woke this morning my arms, thighs and lower back were aching like someone had been punching me all night.
Sometimes its easy to forget how physical building a Tiki 38 can be but looking back on yesterdays activities I realise that I spent all day on my feet, climbing ladders, clambering about on the hulls and beams, lifting heavy awkward weights, bending down, stretching, you name it. All in all a serious all body workout.
I consider myself to be reasonably fit for a soon to be 57 year old and very much consider age to be more about the mind than the body but sometimes the body fights back and today was one of those days!
Anyway I thought it best to rest up a bit today so rather than go to the barn I spent lots of time pouring over the plans and making lists of materials and jobs. I’m under no illusions how much there is left to do but it’s my intention to focus on the remaining big stuff over the coming weeks because once that’s out of the way I’ll not require a big building shed anymore and will be in a position to consider other options. Money is tight and reasonable though the barn rent is I can’t afford to keep paying for it much longer.
Eric left a comment last night asking how much of the space between the beams will be decked. Thanks Eric for prompting me to explain things better I’ll do it with a picture. It’s a great photo of Bjorn’s Tiki 38 ‘Maughidhoo III’ which I’ve annotated to make things clearer. Credit to Bjorn and you can see more of his photos HERE
Oh and thanks also to Jon for his comment about my appearance in yesterdays photo, I’m curious what makes you think I didn’t dress especially for the occasion!
