Love Me Tender
We took a trip up the M6 to somewhere just North of Stoke-On-Trent today and returned with what I hope will become a trusted and valuable addition to Gledas inventory.
It’s a 7’7″ nutshell pram dinghy as originally designed by a fellow by the name of Joel White I believe, she was an unfinished project found on E-Bay and purchased for the princely sum of £80. The dinghy came complete with a mast, centreboard, rudder and tiller.
I’m really chuffed as this is exactly the type of hard dinghy that I wanted and by the time I’ve sheathed her with glass and epoxy, strengthened the transom, added some buoyancy and fitted rowlocks I reckon she’ll do very nicely.
I’ll paint her the same primrose yellow as Gledas hulls.
The mast and rudder are a bonus but she has no sail so that can be a post-launch project.
I’m not a big fan of names when it come to tenders so T/T Gleda is out but if anyone has any suggestions I’ll happily consider them, otherwise she’ll just be called ‘the tender’!
It’d be nice to get her looking as pretty as this one:
Paint her flourescent pink……….. less likely to have her pinched!
And be greeted with “Hello Sailor” anytime I went ashore…….. I don’t think so!
