Another Tiki 38 Build in the UK
I had a nice e-mail a few days ago from a lady by the name of Monika Matis. Monika is planning to start building her own Wharram Tiki 38 in June of this year in a boatyard down on Canvey Island (on the South East coast near London).
She already has a name ‘Sea Witch’ and Monika has set up a web site with a definite ‘sea witch’ theme at www.seawitch-sailing.co.uk I thought I’d continue the theme and add a nice picture of a sea witch to liven up this post!
As Monika herself says there is not a lot to see yet but I do like some of the quotes on the site particularly the one from Bernard Moitessier shown below:
I am a citizen of the most beautiful nation on earth. A nation whose laws are harsh yet simple, a nation that never cheats, which is immense and without borders, where life is lived in the present. In this limitless nation, this nation of wind, light, and peace, there is no other ruler besides the sea.”
I’m sure you’ll all join me in wishing Monika all the very best with her build.
Thanks for a such nice introduction and even better illustration 🙂 At present I’m at the stage of ‘trimming’ my life to allow me to start with this process without flaws. Which includes spending some time (quite a lot actually) learning about it from your and Adrian’s (KIRA) blogs. Still a lot to read as you just finished first hull! (I mean – in my reading 😉 ). And you both put a bar pretty high in terms of commenting your building efforts. OK, I like challenges 🙂
