A Notable Passing
Sad to hear that Jan Gougon died on Tuesday. In 1969 with his brother Meade they formed Gougon Bros, a small boat-building business that ended up as an enterprise selling epoxy (most notably West System) to all parts of the world. He was an innovative designer of multihulls and an experienced solo sailor. Their magazine Epoxyworks is a valuable source of information for those of us into building boats with epoxy and timber.
Without the products and techniques he helped develop it’s fair to say I wouldn’t be building Gleda. For that I’m eternally grateful.
