930Hrs – Passing Through
Build time is scarce at the moment. I managed 5 hours today but had to finish early to prepare for a 2 day trip to Scotland. I’ve got a long weekend coming up next weekend though and am looking forward to catching up some. Today my focus returned to the toilet and shower compartment in the forward section of the starboard hull. I decided to make a new lower bulkhead to fit beneath the arched No 2/3 bulkhead to create a nice space for the head. I am wavering about the Lavac again and may just stick to the porta-potti for a while so I am creating a space that will allow me to fit whatever I decide later. I temporarily positioned the arched No 2/3 bulkhead from the port hull to help me visualize the finished article. I will cut the actual bulkhead slightly differently to give make a smaller access to the new forward compartment that I envisage will just be for sail stowage.
In the photo you can see the new lower bulkhead and floor, forward of which is the new sail locker floor with access hatches to storage below. Having carefully cut access holes through the lower bulkhead for the waste tank indicator and shut off valve of the porta-potti I have decided to cut most of it away to facilitate access, cleaning and removal of the waste tank.
