862Hrs – Back On Line
I’m typing this on my new little Asus eee pc that I’ve bought because I got sick and tired of trying to get my Windows XP laptop to connect to the internet without crashing. One night it worked fine, the next day not. Hours spent trying things left me kicking myself that against my better judgement I had gone down the Microsoft route when I bought it a couple of years ago. Anyway it gave me the excuse to treat myself to this ultra cheap (£250), ultra portable, Linux OS Asus machine and I have to say my first impressions are good. It is a tough well built machine with solid state drive which I hope will serve me well in my travels. Whilst on the subject of IT I also lost my e-mail for the best part of the week and I think some may have gone adrift so if you sent one expecting a reply please accept my apologies. Please resend and all should now be well.
As far as the build is concerned I have only managed a few hours this week but have got the double berth supports and single berth bunk base glued into place. No photos yet I’m afraid that’s the next test for this new machine! Looking ahead over the next few weeks it is hard to see that I will be able to put many hours in. Its frustrating but unavoidable although some of the time will be sort of build connected because I’m going dow to the Beaulieau Boat jumble at the end of the month. This is the biggest outdoor sale of all manner of nautical paraphanalia in the UK if not thw world and I’m certainly hoping to pick up some bargains!
