826Hrs – Painting
I fancied a change today so I decided to get the primer coat on all the bilge and locker areas in the port hull. Using a small foam roller and a brush it was all fairly straightforward and very satisfying to see the areas looking bright and fresh.
Thanks to Shane and Beat for the comments about the heads, there is no doubt that there are as many opinions on the subject as there are boats. The Thetford model I have bought has a good handle on the holding tank and I have no problem lifting it full, I am leaving enough clearance between the bulkheads to allow easy access and removal. The toilet seat will also be fitted to allow easy removal. I have sloped the floor very slightly to allow easy wash down through drains into the shower floor. All of this is aimed at maximum simplicity and maximum cleanliness. No pumps, no pipes, no smells!
Whilst a bucket and chuck it option may be the ultimate in simplicity it’s place is at sea. It must be remembered that Gleda will be my permanent home and I will, for a time at least, be living on board in the UK climate. I need some level of civilisation!
