817Hrs – On My Bike
Ok it may be blowing a Northerly gale, there may be sleet showers and it may be just a few degrees above freezing but heck it is Easter and that means Spring is here so, as I did yesterday after dusting off the cobwebs, I rode my bike up to the barn. Oh there is another reason… the girlfriend has borrowed my car! Anyway it was nice to get the exercise and it’s a fairly gentle 6 mile round trip with a long rest in between legs.
My main job today was to sand and fillet the main berth area, starboard side aft bunk area, coat untreated timber and generally move through the hull filling and preparing for paint. Doesn’t sound much but it took all day. I also spent some time looking at the head and shower compartment. I’m contemplating making the compartment a little larger by adding another bulkhead instead of having the head under a cover.
The photos below show how much ‘wobble’ there is in the starboard hullsides. Compare them to the picture I posted yesterday with the straps pulling everything fair. I remember getting really stressed when I first saw this ‘wobble’ but as Jacques told me at the time, its nothing to worry about, as I have discovered.
