752Hrs – First Bunk
I really felt like doing something constructive tonight so I started on the first bunk in the forward compartment of the port hull. The first stage was to cut and fit additional supports then to cut the 9mm ply bunk base and finally to cut the two lifting sections that give access to the storage beneath.
It was really great to get into this kind of work again and to be able to see something real at the end of a work session. Obviously everything at this stage is dry fitted. I will make sure I am completely happy before I start gluing things in and making other areas permanently inaccessible. My plan is to continue with this cutting and dry fitting of floors and bunks until I can really see the full layout coming together.
I forgot to mention one other thing that gave me a real buzz today. When I had fitted the bunk stringers I dropped the spirit level on them and guess what….. the bunk was absolutely cock on level both fore and aft and crossways. I have to say that’s really satisfying!
Oh one other thing I am a year older today! I was 49 when I started this project and I’m 51 now…,.. yikes! I’d better get a shift on!
