539Hrs – I Got Heat!
This is my new heater. Its a powerful infrared ceramic element design. The beauty of infrared is that it heats people and objects rather than the air in between. This is a great advantage when working in a barn with no doors! When put to use tonight I immediately noticed the difference ( although typically the temperature has gone up now the heater has arrived!) and I’m sure it will prove to be a good investment. I spent a decent amount of time tonight sanding but I had a welcome distraction in the form of a visitor, Malc Whitehead. Malc made contact with me soon after I started Gleda and has visited a couple of times to see the build. He has had his Tiki 38 plans for 10 years and has just secured a barn up in the Peak District which he is going to prepare ready to start his build early in the New Year. It was great to chat with a fellow lunatic and I was pleased to pass on some of my experience for what its worth. I wish him all the best for his long awaited project.
Thanks to Chris Harrell for his encouraging posts recently, as I’ve said before these messages give me a huge boost when things get tough, and reading about the progress of the Tiki in Thailand gives me all sorts of ideas for later in the build. With regard to methods for turning the hulls, I’d be very grateful for any thoughts, ideas or methods you may have.
