523Hrs – Keeping Warm
The temperatures are still low, tonight at 8pm it was only just above freezing. I spoke to my epoxy supplier today and although he would willingly sell me some ‘winter’ hardener for the Mixfill he felt that at these temperatures I’d still be struggling. He did give me some good advice though regarding keeping the tubs warm, mixing in front of a fan heater and, if possible warming the surface onto which I was applying the filler. He recommended an electric infra red space heater. Given that I am already struggling with temperature and given that I have a feeling this winter may be a cold one I decided to order one. I’ll let you know what it’s like, Tonight the filler I’d already done had cured enough to allow some sanding so I concentrated on the curve between keel and hull. Sanding is certainly the best work to be doing when its cold, I soon warmed up!
