521Hrs – Cold Work
We seem to be caught in a prolonged spell of colder weather at the moment and it seem to be having an effect on my filler – It won’t cure! I’m going to talk to my supplier tomorrow and see if I can get a faster hardener. The filler that I applied Saturday is still a little soft and although I was able to Surform the heavier lumps away tonight I couldn’t really put my new sanding board to use yet. I did finish applying filler to the one side of the starboard hull though.
The sanding board is made up of a piece of solid but flexible UHMW PVC with two adhesive trowel handles bolted on. I countersunk the screws in from underneath and glued them in so that, by using wingnuts I can easily remove the handles and replace the sandpaper which is then held in place by the handles when I screw them back on. I may make a larger 3ft one as per Thomas’s suggestion. Thanks for your comments Chris I am really looking forward to making some dust! I could do with some Thailand type temperatures for a few days!
