512Hrs – Plan B
I’ve decided to try tipping a hull. As I expected the fairing mix I put on last night had slumped and will have to come off. The Mixfill has eventually started to cure but is still way too soft to sand. The temperatures are still low and forecast to be so for a while.I can’t move forward like this, I have to find another way.
By way of experiment I unscrewed the starboard hull from the floor and lifted one side to test the weight. Yes it’s heavy but movable. I have a high lift jack anyway so lifting is easy. There are some old car tyres in the yard and I figure that if I lift one side gradually, a bit at a time I can insert car tyres to take the weight and remove the temporary softwood legs as I go. It should then be relatively easy to ‘roll the hull over onto that side. The lads at the yard have offered to help so I’m going to give it a go tomorrow.
