507Hrs – Filling Prep
My work session today was spent closely examining the starboard glassed hull from stem to stern, spotting bubbles or dry areas, cutting them out, feathering the edges and then cleaning them ready for filling. There are a few larger ones mainly around the keel, the remainder are quite small. I initially thought I would fill them with a thickened epoxy mix before putting on the filler coat but now I’m wondering if there is any benefit. Maybe it’s just as well to fill them with the filler coat. By way of experiment I mixed up a small batch of the thick filler and trowelled it onto part of the keel. I’ll have a look at it tomorrow and see how it sands back. This looks like another learning exercise!
