483.5Hrs – Pretty Pleased
It was with some trepidation that I started pulling off the PeelPly this morning but I have to say that I am well pleased with the results. I just don’t think I would have achieved anywhere near this standard of finish without using it. I do have some small air bubbles in places and a couple of larger ones by the keel but they can be cut and filled no problem. There are also a few lumps and bumps so a little sanding will be needed in places. My technique is improving as well so I should get fewer as I go on. My work day was interrupted today by other commitments so I still have the stern section to finish on the port hull. I have masked up the edge where I finished tonight and I hope I an restart there tomorrow without too much trouble. I want to catch up tomorrow. Unbelievably the weather has turned unseasonably warm with daytime temperatures of 18’C forecast. Hope it doesn’t get any warmer otherwise my epoxy will be going off too quickly!
Pulling off the PeelPly
This is the surface left behind, smooth but textured and no amine!
Neil;
If you use a ‘Seafit’ corner resin roller where the PeelPly goes over an angle, you will be able to apply light pressure when placing the PeelPly which should reduce the potential for air bubbles forming.
