427Hrs – Still Glassing
This is another job where the sheer scale of the task facing me starts to hit home. Today I have glass reinforced the full length of both hulls from stem to stern including the leading edges of the skegs. In doing so I used:
36m (117ft) of 150mm (6″) wide bi-ax glass tape, 42m (136ft) of masking tape and just over 3kg (7lb) of mixed epoxy. I would estimate that have used about the same again in the glass work I have already done. I was over optimistic that I would finish today but I am getting close. I reckon on a couple more nights glassing then another mega sand and clean up and I will be ready to start sheathing.
This is a close up of one of the bow sections I finished yesterday. I used some PeelPly tape to see if I could improve the finish and I am pleased with the result. Nice and smooth, no rubbing down, and ready for the sheathing layer.
