3712Hrs – Pushing Paint
The last 12 hours of work have been spent in the fore cabin. I finished the epoxy filleting, spent joyous hours cramped up with the sander and then more time clearing up. When that was all done I was able to crack open a new can of primer/undercoat and start painting.
I’m aching all over but I’m pleased to have pushed forward again. Given the cold wet weather the cabin is probably the best place to work right now.
I’ll get a second coat of paint on tomorrow.
I have never liked this forecabin anyway. At sea it is terribly wet, dangerous to get in and out. I basically use it as storage.
Good points Jacques, I’ve heard the same from other Tiki 38 owners. I’m hoping my hatch modifications will keep the cabin dry but the access is a different story. I had thought about designing some sort of stainless steel guard rail to give extra safety and good hand holds but that’s something for later I think.
