3438Hrs – A Good Weeks Work
I’m taking a day of rest tomorrow and then on Monday I have some paid work to do but I can take a break from ‘Gleda’ knowing that I’ve done a good weeks work and that I’ve moved significantly closer to completion.
As an added bonus the work I’ve done is highly visual and once again I’ve been able to sit with my cuppa and just gaze at what I’ve done, basking in the satisfaction of having transformed pieces of timber into something beautiful.
It took me about an hour to screw on the last of the rubbing strakes, with only a few minor adjustments needed here and there. It’s hard to get a good view in the barn but these photos should give an idea.
Second job of the day was to make a start on the Western Red Cedar decks. I cut the bearers for all three deck sections and then laid the planks to the centre deck area. I need yet more stainless screws before I can fit them properly but nonetheless they look and smell gorgeous.
Before I called it quits I cut up some blocks of hardwood for the deck bearer supports that need to be fitted to the forward tumblehomes. I’ll get cracking with those on Tuesday.
