323 Hrs – Lower Hullsides – Done!
A really good day today, 7 solid hours put in and I now have all the remaining lower hillside panels dry fitted, adjusted, prep sanded, pre-drilled and ready to glue. Everything went much easier than on the first hull, I still had to make some minor adjustments to the fit and trim down to compensate for the slightly oversized plywood sheets, but nothing untoward and no major cock-ups like the drop in the stern panel I managed first time round. Mind you I shouldn’t speak too soon as I haven’t glued anything yet! The work I have done today means that on this hull I have taken 21 hours to do what took me 36 hours on the first hull. That’s encouraging. The photos below will take you through the stages completed today.
1) Top of panels bevelled 2) All the panels dry-fitted
3) Mark the stringer positions on the inside 4) Remove the panels
5) Key sand the marked areas 6) The result
7) Pre-drill holes at 150mm centres 8) All ready to glue
