3212Hrs – Long Overdue Coming Together
I looked back in my blog and discovered it was May 2008 when I cut the rudder sections I’ve been working on today. They’ve been leaning against the barn tent for over 5 years! Covered in dust and pigeon crap, unloved, forgotten.
Given that I’ll be relying on these bits of 18mm ply to steer ‘Gleda’ through all manner of watery hazards I really should have treated them with a bit more reverence!
It’s testament to the durability of good quality marine ply though that ten minutes with the orbital sander saw these neglected bits of timber looking almost as if they’d just been cut.
Another exciting project I’m working on meant that I was only going to have a couple of hours of boatbuilding today so I put them to good use and got the two layers of rudder section epoxied together.
A long overdue coming together completed.
