2940Hrs – Hot Hot Hot!
Wow! It’s been years since we’ve had such a consistent spell of hot weather here in the UK. For over a week now temperatures have been in the high 20˚C’s (80˚F’s) and it’s fantastic!
I should just say that I’m very aware that there will be readers in some parts of the world who would consider the idea of this being hot as laughable…… I know, Death Valley it ain’t but after a no show Summer last year believe me it’s bliss for us.
Although available build time has been down I’ve been able to get much more done simply due to the fact that with a slow/medium epoxy hardener I can rattle through stages of glassing that would usually be spread over a couple of days. If the Universe continues to smile on us for a few more months I’ll really be able to move things on.
During my last two work sessions I’ve continued with the deckpod glassing and now have all of the forward watch berth sections finished. I also made a start on the aft part of the pod. Due to my modified design I’m once again making it up as I go along but now I’m clear what I’m going to do. Although it’s a narrow section I need to make sure it’s plenty strong though.
In between time I’ve been playing with my pulpit idea. I’m really pleased with the curved half round mahogany frame I put together the other day. I lifted it up roughly into position above the anchor and I think it looks good, as I’d hoped the shape matches the profile of the bows really well. The decision wether to continue with it will stand or fall on my ability to find a strong but not too obtrusive method of fixing it to the forward beam. I’m thinking of something that ‘slots’ over the beam and is part of the mast box. I’m in no rush, this is a great example of what we were talking about the other day i.e. not rushing in, letting things sit for a while, letting the thoughts and ideas come in their own good time, that’s what I’m going to do.
As always I’d welcome your opinions and suggestions.
