2883Hrs – Derek The Deckpod
A cracking 8 hour session today. I’ve got all the framework for the watch cabin and helmsmans seat cut and epoxied into place and with every day that passes I’m happier with the way things are coming together.
The only bit of ‘design’ left to do is deciding how high to make the aft panel. I’d initially thought to make it the same height as the forward bulkhead but I’m now thinking that might make the pod look too obtrusive. It obviously needs to be high enough to provide a decent backrest for the helmsmans seat and also for others who may be standing alongside. I’m now thinking there’s no point making it any higher.
As always I’ll mock things up with some ply clamped in place and let my eye tell me when it’s right.
The photo below shows muggins stood next to ‘Derek’ and hopefully gives a better idea of his size (I’m a lofty 5’6″)…. thanks again Peter!
Here’s a photo showing some of the framework I’ve done today. Once I have my re-supply of 9mm ply I’ll now be able to box the cabin in very quickly.
And lastly here’s the framework for the helmsmans seat.
