2827Hrs – Heavy Lifting Day
I pushed on today and got far more done than I’d anticipated. I got all four beams lifted into position and marked up, then I lifted them all down again and made a start drilling the holes for the retaining pins.
It was pretty physical even with the fork truck but I’m aching with satisfaction at my days work.
Here’s a collage of the four beams going in.
Barney came to have a look at the job.
The view from above before I dropped them down again.
Once they were back on the deck I made a start marking and drilling the retaining pin holes. Two 22mm diameter holes centred 25mm apart and then connected by removing the centre section with a chisel.
Stage 1:
Stage 2: I fitted my electric drill into the guide off my router so as to ensure I drilled in true and square.
Stage 3: Holes drilled and centre section chiselled out.
If I have a good day tomorrow I should be then be close to having these beams done and dusted…. Yay!
Interesting. I am sure it must have been tricky drilling them holes. Was your drill bit long enough to drill all the way through one side ?
Blimey Neil she’s changed a ton since I last saw her in the flesh. Those cross beams look superb.
