2343Hrs – A Whiter Shade Of Pale
I hadn’t really planned to do anymore painting today but when I got to the barn I realised it was still dry, the temperature was nudging double figures and there was just a gentle breeze so I decided to wallop the first coat of white topcoat onto the upper sides.
I’m using Jotun Pioner which is an acrylic based semi-gloss finish. It’s nice to be using a single pack paint again, much simpler, and I was impressed with the way it rolled on and covered. I’ve decided to apply just one coat until I’ve finished all the exterior work on the hulls. I have the lashing strakes to finish, all the port lights and hatches to fit, ventilators, mounting blocks and much more. There’s no point going for the final finish until all these jobs are done, as long as the hulls are well protected and look pretty enough to put a smile on my face when I arrive in the morning then I’m happy 🙂
If conditions allow then I may just put some colour on the hull sides tomorrow, only then will I know if I’ve made a good choice!
