2266Hrs – Going Round In Circles
A short work session today for various reasons but to be honest I wasn’t worried because the weather has just been appalling. Windy with yet more heavy rain. There’s a pond outside the barn which is now as high as I’ve ever seen it in the six years I’ve been there. I’ve joked about Gleda being an Ark before now and it feels that way again. It’s hard to imagine that this time next year UK Winters will seem a dim distant memory as I sup a chilled beer on Gledas deck in the sunshine!
For now though it is as it is and I must make the best of it. My little project today was to cut and fit the inner plywood rings to the 4 forward facing portlights in the deck houses. It was a fairly straightforward job, I made up a couple of templates out of some old vinyl flooring and used them to mark out the circles on a plywood off cut then carefully cut them out with a jigsaw. After sanding them smooth I tapped in 4 thin brad nails to each which allowed me to position the rings correctly around the holes and then epoxied them in clamping as I went.
These rings will form a ‘backplate’ onto which the Perspex windows will be bedded so that they sit flush to the outside of the deck house. Sorry if that doesn’t make any sense but all will become clear when I fit them.
