2174Hrs – Ready to Paint!
I got all the beam troughs tidied up today and also took care of the rudder mounts. I know that I could go over the huls and find other places that need a bit of attention but I’ve decided to draw a line under this 1st stage preparation.
Getting a coat of primer on will boost my enthusiasm and make it far easier to spot these areas in any case. The weather forecast is reasonable tomorrow so I’m going to go for it. I’ve no idea how much I’ll get done but I’ve earmarked the whole day so check back tomorrow and see how I did!
To finish off today I sorted out the 18mm plywood webs for the aft crossbeam and got the first layer glued up on the building floor. Jacques Pierret has warned me several times not to underestimate the amount of work in these beams and I’m not. That said I’m going to try and improve on the four months it took him to build the beams for ‘Pilgrim’
The loss of British Summer Time at the weekend has meant that with the clocks going back an hour the evenings are drawing in fast. By the time I finished this afternoon it was distinctly gloomy. Best get used to that eh?
