2160Hrs – Paints Ere!
I’ve spent a few hours over the last couple of days making lists of stuff I need for the next stages of the build and cleaning up the barn a bit. The weather since I jet washed has been damp with little wind so the barn is still very wet. Not a chance of even thinking about applying paint just yet. The forecast for the weekend is for the wind to come down from the Arctic blowing away all this cloud and giving us clear skies, however the temperature is going to drop accordingly so I’ll just have to be patient and see what happens. I have the small matter of some beams to build whilst I’m waiting for decent painting conditions!
Anyway I’m now ready to rock and roll because all my paint arrived today, well all except the anti-foul which is following on tomorrow although there’s really no rush for that one!
It was fun unpacking all the boxes and checking out what I’d got:
As you can see I’ve opted for Jotun product, it seemed to have a good reputation and I got some decent prices from an outfit called SML Marine Paints down in Cirencester. I’ve got 20 Ltrs of epoxy primer (10 Grey 10 White), 10 Ltrs of White Acrylic Topcoat, 10 Ltrs of Primrose Acrylic Topcoat, 10 Ltrs of silver tie coat (goes between epoxy primer and antifoul). Thinners for both paints, a low temperature additive for the epoxy primer and a selection of rollers, trays, brushes and stirrers, oh and a 1kg of non slip additive to try on the deck. So no excuses now, can’t wait to crack on!
Here’s an idea of what Gleda will look like when she’s launched!
