2099Hrs – Experimenting
I’ve been playing around with different methods of applying the first filler coat today. The areas that need the thickest application are where the glass biaxial tape steps down a few millimetres to meet the thinner glass twill covering the main area of the hullside panels. I’ve previously used a steel screeding trowel which worked reasonably well but today I’ve tried using a finely notched steel spatula about 5 inches wide. The fine serrations seemed to make the filler easier to spread and low spots easier to spot. I figure that the fine serrated finish will be pretty easy to sand down but I’ll find out tomorrow!
Either which way I’ll make a decision on my preferred method in the morning and then crack on because I want to get a solid days work in tomorrow.
