205.5 Hrs – First Set of Lower Hullsides Cut
The second epoxy coat had dried nicely so it was back to ply cutting tonight, and I now have a full set of lower hullside panels. I can use these as templates to cut the other three sets but I have to coat another 12 sheets of ply for those so I have plenty to do! I was curious to see how the bow panel would look so I temporarily clamped it roughly in position and you can see the result on the photo below. It will be great to start fixing these panels and turning a skeleton into a hull. I have to say though that I am expecting this process to be challenging, some of the sheets will have to be bent quite considerably to follow the hull shape.
Thanks to all for the comments on yesterdays journal entry, as always its great to get words of encouragement, it helps me a lot. Tim’s question about costs has prompted me to set up a discussion forum page for readers to use. I have moved Tims question and Jaques reply over there to get things started.
Snazzy clamps there, Neil. Must be a British thing as I’ve never seen them on the western shore of the Atlantic. Please comment on what they are, maybe a close-up shot would be nice. I’ll be looking for more as my large stock of Bessy’s are not ideal for plywood clipping. As they say, you can never have too many clamps…Tim
