1985Hrs – Bonus Hours
I hadn’t expected to get much done on Gleda today but by lunchtime things had slowed down enough with my paid work to allow me to clock off and get boatbuilding. This is one of the huge advantages to working flexible hours on site right next to Gleda, I can easily switch from one to the other as workload allows.
Anyway I cracked on with some more glass reinforcing and got another 7 metres (22ft) or so done. I can kind of see the light at the end of the tunnel on this job now and I’m keen to get it finished.
Whilst waiting for the epoxy to go off a bit I got back onto the stemheads. I used my belt sanders, cylindrical sander and flap wheel attachment to get a really nice shape, cut and routed two holes for rope, filled the screw holes and applied a coat of epoxy. I’m really pleased with the result although I’m afraid the photo doesn’t really show it too well. I was trying to be clever and focus on the port stemhead whilst looking through the hole in the starboard one… didn’t work!
I’ll take some better ones tomorrow.
