1901 Hrs – It’s A Process
Another good work session completed today and I got the stern section of the starboard hull all taped up. Pictures on the right show the process, it’s all fairly straightforward but you just have to keep an eye on the timings because it’s necessary to wait a few hours for the epoxy saturated biax tape to start to harden so that you can get a clean knife cut through the glass tape and remove the masking tape. Do it too soon and you’ll pull the glass tape away, leave it too late and you cant, get the masking tape off!
By way of a diversion while I was waiting I decided to have another look at the two long Lewmar portlights I picked up cheap at the Beaulieu Boat Jumble a couple of years back. In typical fashion the ‘look’ turned into a decision and I ended up taking a jigsaw to the cabin top!
I’ve got to figure out exactly how to fit them but I have a good idea and I think they’ll look great.
