1895 Hrs – In Flow
Another 8 hours clocked up today and I’ve now got all the main hull joints nicely glassed. Todays total, 30m (nearly 100ft) of 150mm (6inch) glass biax applied. I’m loving knocking off big chunks of work like this, it’s something I haven’t done for ages and I’d forgotten how satisfying it is!
Tomorrow I’m going to see how close I can get to finishing this operation on the starboard hull.
Hi Neil,
I have been looking through you blog to find out what sort of biaxial tape you were using.
I am slowly getting myself organized on supplies. The plans just say 200m of 733B 150mm wide glass tape. By looking up west system website I found out this is 175g/m² Plain Weave but I think using biaxial tape would be better??? Which grade did you use?
Hi Luke
I used 600g – 150mm biaxial from MCMC
150mm is a perfect width and I opted for the heavier grade as I thought it better for hull construction, you could probably go lighter for general reinforcement.
