1803Hrs- Dog Pile Day
A three hour session today and I’ve accomplished next to nothing. I started with plans to get the glass taping finished on the forward section of the starboard hull but I ended up going backwards. I really should have known better than to try and glass into a sharp internal and external corner at the same time. (that’s what shape the lower part of the hullside stringer to hull joint is) but I tried anyway and spent a ridiculous amount of time stippling, rolling with my new metal glassing roller, pushing with a rubber squeegee only to see the glass bubble up away from the edge almost instantly.
I decided to wait a little while until the resin had gone tackier thinking it would grab better, so while I waited I went and made a cuppa and drank it in the nice sunshine coming in at the opposite end of the barn from where I was working. When I went back to try again the whole strip of wetted out tape had fallen off and was crumpled on the floor amongst the sawdust and leaves. Suffice it to say that my anger management skill were sorely tested.
Some days things just don’t go right and it’s easy to start imagining there’s someone out to get you, I also banged my knee and got my hand covered in wet resin when my glove split! Now whilst I’ll fight tooth and nail if I have to there’s really no point when you don’t have to, so I just mixed up some filled resin, made a small fillet underneath the stringer to take away the sharp angle, something I should have done before I started, and then left to do something more constructive.
I’m annoyed because build time is precious right now and next week already looks really busy for me so I know I’m not going to get much done but there’s no point making a meal out of it, we all have days like this and tomorrow’s a new day.
