1389Hrs- Timber!
After a slight logistical hiccup that was sorted with a few phone calls, my timber order got off loaded this morning. Just over 200 metres (656 feet) of lovely clear grade Douglas Fir planed to 3 different sizes plus 18 sheets of 4mm and 6 sheets of 9mm marine plywood. As I said last night, this should be enough to complete the hulls and deck pod. I’d had a long tiring physical day at work and by the time I’d sorted and safely stored all this timber I wasn’t really fit for anything else except a meal and some sleep! One thing is for sure though, I find that these occasional big purchases really bring new motivation and focus to the project. Its not just the scary financial outlay but a real desire to turn this beautiful wood into something even more beautiful. It reminds me what a crazy thing I’m doing here. Turning bits of wood into something that will be a home, a refuge, a means of global transport and an object of beauty. Well that’s the plan anyway!
